When God created Adam, he was given the responsiblity to cultivate and keep the garden of Eden. Later, God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him” (Genesis 2:18). Here we see the purpose of a wife: to help a husband with his responsibilities. Notice that Eve wasn’t given as a servant to the man. Nor was she given as his employee. She was given as a helper.
Embracing this thought will help a husband’s attitude toward his wife in the home. Here’s how. Men are given full responsibility over the home (often an overwhelming task for one person). Any help that his wife is able to contribute merely decreases his own work load, for which he will certainly be thankful. However, once a man thinks his wife to be a servant in the home, his anger can easily rise when she doesn’t get “her work” accomplished.
So, remember men, it’s not “her work” and “your work.” It’s all “your work.” Your wife is given to help you. So, be thankful and appreciative for your wife and all the wonderful ways that she helps you.
