I recently returned from a trip to the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota, which my son and I took with a few other fathers and sons from our church. We spent three days in the wilderness, camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking and exploring. We chose to search and discover a new campsite every night: three nights, three different campsites. It was a wonderful time, but it was nice to get home.
It got me thinking about how our life is like this. For those who trust in Jesus, our destiny is in heaven with Him. But now, we are sojourners, just passing through this earth. “For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens” (2 Corinthians 5:1). Someday, we will be able to settle down in our heavenly home. But, until then, enjoy your tent.
