Being at a small church certainly has its disadvantages. Our resources are limited. People are often stretched in many directions. We have little by way of special ministries to offer people. However, there are some great advantages as well. I saw firsthand some of the advantages this week.
We hosted a Vacation Bible School this week. To be sure, there were many adults who labored long and hard to pull it off. But, many young people played a major role. Many served in helping the teachers. Others served in the nursery or helped with games. The drama portion of the week was done completely by teenagers (and younger) who did an outstanding job.
What a great opportunity it was for our young people to serve the young children who came to the Vacation Bible School, rather than merely being served by a large youth group in a large church.
