This past Sunday I finished preaching through the book of Hebrews. It took me 60 sermons to preach through the entire book, verse by verse. I am very thankful to God for having the privilege of doing this. I have learned so much. Our church has learned so much. May our lives reflect it.
The book is fundamentally an exposition on the greatness of Jesus. He is better than the angels, better than Moses or Joshua, better than Aaron or any of the high priests. He has brought in a better covenant through a better sacrifice. Interwoven into the argument are five warning sections, which say, in effect, “In light of the greatness of Jesus, it would be tragic to forsake Jesus.”
Here’s how I summarized the book: “Jesus Is Better, So Press On!” This is the message that our church has heard for the past two years. May God bring fruit from this message.
