“I Need This”

We had some visitors in our church recently who have been “doing church” at home by listening to some Bible teaching from their favorite Christian teacher. But, when they came and visited our church and saw and experienced the dynamics of the church family, one of them said to me, “I need this.” There is something about being involved in a congregation that merely listening to Bible teaching will never be able to fulfill. It’s how God has designed His church–people with people for our edification.

“We are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love” (Ephesians 4:15-16).

  1. Good post. We know a family who has done this for years. Not recommended. Just finished reading “Why We Love the Church” by Kevin DeYoung and Ted Kluck. Tackles the good, the bad, and the ugly about churches but in the end, we DO need this!
