No More King

Burger King, the fast food giant, has recently decided to end use of their mascot king in their advertisements. Instead, they will focus their attention upon the quality of their food in attracting customers. One spokesman for Burger King said, “We won’t be seeing the king for a while.”

When I heard this I thought of how many seek to dethrone the King of the universe in the same way. Many don’t want to see the King for a while. In Psalm 22, we read of the kings of the earth resisting the King of heaven, …

The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the LORD and against His Anointed.

But, such wishes can never topple the King of heaven, who says a few verses later, “I have installed My King,” that is, King Jesus. We all will be seeing Him soon.
