A Day to Remember

Today is November 11, 2011. For the fortunate soul who is born today, their birthday will be 11-11-11. It will be easy for them (and their family and their friends) to remember the day. I have one of those birthdays. I was born on April 5, 1967. My birthday is 4-5-67. It’s easy to remember.

But, today is Veterans Day–a day to remember those who have served in the arm forces for our country. They have served to insure our freedom. This day coincides with the signing of the Armistice, which occurred on November 11, 1918. Let us reflect today on the freedom we have. It hasn’t been free. It has come with a cost.

Let us also reflect upon the freedom that we have received in Christ. It hasn’t been free. It has come with a cost–the death of the Son of God. Jesus gave His life, that we might be free. “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death” (Romans 8:2).
