We have the privilege of hosting a kids club at our church for a handful of children from the neighborhood surrounding our church building. I’m teaching them the Bible from the ground up. Before working with them, they had never heard of Abraham, Joseph, Moses or David. They had never heard of the Ten Commandments or the plagues on Egypt. They had never heard the story of David and Goliath or the story of Joshua conquering Jericho. They had never heard of John 3:16! (perhaps the most famous verse in the Bible).
What a joy it is to have the opportunity to teach these precious children. I feel like a missionary going somewhere where the gospel has never been heard. I share Paul’s excitement, “I aspired to preach the gospel, not where Christ was already named, so that I would not build on another man’s foundation, but as it is written, ‘They who had no news of Him shall see; And they who have not heard shall understand'” (Romans 15:20-21).
