Wherever you have a business or an organization or movement of people, a mission statement is very helpful to center all of the energies of the group toward their goal. McDonald’s mission is “to be the world’s best quick service restaurant experience.” Google’s mission is “to make the world’s information universally accessible and useful.” eBay’s mission is “to provide a global trading platform where practically anyone can trade practically anything.”
People often develop their own mission statement in life as well. Jesus’ mission statement comes in Mark 10:45, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His live as a ransom for many.” This is where Jesus focused his energy. He took the true path to greatness, not by looking out for His own interests and lording it over others, but rather by looking out for our interests and giving Himself for us! And that’s exactly what happened upon the cross.
